Frequently Asked
Cabin Questions
What is a geodesic dome glamping cabin?
A geodesic dome cabin is a self-contained accommodation built from a lightweight framework of triangular panels forming a spherical structure. At Dewberry Hideout, each of our four domes is fully insulated and climate-controlled, with a king bed, private ensuite bathroom, full kitchen, and a transparent skylight panel for stargazing. They're glamping — not camping.
How many people can stay in one dome cabin?
Each dome at Dewberry Hideout sleeps 2 adults comfortably on a king bed. The four cabins together accommodate up to 8 guests. For larger groups, the full 4-cabin buyout option is available alongside our 4,500 sq ft event venue — ideal for wedding parties, corporate retreats, bachelorette weekends, and COTA race-weekend fan groups.
Does each cabin have its own bathroom and kitchen?
Yes. Every one of the four Dewberry Hideout domes has a private ensuite bathroom with a full-size shower and a fully equipped kitchenette with a cooktop, refrigerator, microwave, and sink. No shared bathrooms, no shared cooking facilities.
Where is Dewberry Hideout located?
Dewberry Hideout is located at 949 FM 1854 in Dale, Texas 78616, in the Texas Hill Country — approximately 20 minutes from Circuit of the Americas (COTA) and 30 minutes from downtown Austin. It is the closest boutique glamping property to COTA for F1 Grand Prix and MotoGP race weekends.
When do the cabins at Dewberry Hideout open?
Dewberry Hideout opens September 2027. A founding-member waitlist is open now — the first 20 members receive a 15% discount on every future cabin stay, 48-hour early access to the booking calendar, and an invitation to the opening-weekend event in September 2027.
Can I book a dome cabin for F1 or MotoGP weekend at COTA?
Yes. COTA race weekends (F1 United States Grand Prix in November, MotoGP Grand Prix of the Americas in April) book first and book fastest. Waitlist members receive 48-hour priority booking on the race-weekend calendar. For full-buyout race-weekend packages (all 4 cabins + event venue for watch parties), see the COTA page.
Are the dome cabins pet friendly?
We are finalizing our pet policy for opening. Founding-member waitlist applicants with pets will be contacted when the policy is confirmed — expected to be pet-friendly in designated domes with a small cleaning fee.
What's the difference between the four cabins?
All four domes share the same amenities — king bed, starlight ceiling, private bath, full kitchen, fire pit. They differ by location on the property: The Cedar is the most sheltered and quiet. The Dewberry has the best morning sun. The Pondside sits closest to the water. The Starlight is the flagship with the widest sky view and an extended skylight panel. Waitlist members can indicate a preferred dome at signup.
Is Dewberry Hideout a good alternative to an Austin hotel?
For travelers visiting Austin for COTA race weekends, SXSW overflow, ACL Festival, weddings, or quiet Hill Country getaways, Dewberry Hideout offers a boutique alternative to downtown hotels. You get a private dome, a private fire pit, a pond view, 15-minute access to COTA, and 30-minute access to downtown Austin — often at a comparable rate to a 4-star hotel room.
